Every September from 2005 until 2010 we were treated to a new generation of iPod nano. But in 2011 – nada. But the long wait for some new nano love could be coming to an end soon, if some leaked pics of a purported seventh-gen iPod nano prove to be the real deal.

And it looks as if Apple could be reintroducing the camera for the new nano, with a device that looks just like the current nano incumbent but with a new snapper packed in. The leaked pictures from a Japanese site clearly show a hole on the clip and what looks like a lens.

The 5th generation iPod nano packed a video camera, but this was dropped for the super-small 6th generation clip-boasting model.

But this isn’t the first time we’ve seen something like this before. Back in May 2011 we reported on a camera-friendly nano case turning up online from the very same Japanese website.

The camera the new nano will be packing is said to be just 1.3-megapixel and Chinese site M.I.C has stated that the leaked pictures show a two-month-old prototype; one with “big problems”. Apparently its auto iris lens is causing blurring in bright conditions as well as taking “overexposed photos”.

If it turns out to be real, the new iPod nano is murmured to be on course for a March / April release. We shall see….

They’re beautiful, fashionable, and always red-carpet-ready for their close-ups. But there’s one accessory these stars don’t have: a stylist. So they say. Blake Lively, the “Gossip Girl” star, has become the poster child for going stylist-free.

What does this mean, exactly? The 24-year-old says fashion is her favorite hobby, so she prefers to go with her gut. “I just like whatever I’m feeling. Sometimes things are really beautiful, but they just don’t photograph well, and that’s that.” Yes, we all know that whenever an outfit doesn’t work, it’s the camera’s fault.

Still, the stylish TV show “Gossip Girl” seems to be doing for Lively’s fashion sense what “Sex and the City” did for Sarah Jessica Parker. Off set, Lively clearly loves to show up in designer duds, even if she doesn’t always hit the mark.

The blog Fashionista is doubtful of the Chanel spokesmodel’s claim, noting, “It doesn’t seem that Blake needs a stylist, because she has Eric Daman, ‘Gossip Girl’s’ costume designer, who clearly ‘helps her out’ for big events.”

Other stars who say they turn up at major events with a DIY look include January Jones, Diane Kruger, and the Olsen twins, Mary-Kate and Ashley.

Certainly, there’s no shame in hiring a stylist. In fact, a celebrity stylist told the New York Times that it can be a game changer. Nicole Chavez, who has dressed Katherine Heigl and Scarlett Johansson, insisted that a good dress is a great career move: “People — casting agents, studio executives — stop and take notice. They are suddenly interested in working with you.”

Whether or not Lively has a stylist, directors are apparently interested in working with the up-and-coming actress. Her career is on the rise, along with her fashionably short hem: She is said to be starring in the upcoming Oliver Stone movie “Savages.”

The Nikon Coolpix P310 updates the excellent Coolpix P300 launched in 2011 and offers a?relatively?high-end, but not expensive, compact with plenty of creative controls for photographers who want a little more out of their pocketable camera.

Headlining the specs is the Nikkor 4.2x lens, offering 24mm at the widest angle along with an impressive f/1.8 maximum aperture for those dramatic portraits.

The backlit 16-megapixel CMOS 1/2.3 type sensor offers lens shift VR, which claims to offers stability with shutter speeds up to four stops slower, and supported?by the new Expeed C2 image processor. The smaller sensor might not compete with the likes of the Canon Powershot S100 in terms of size, but accounts for the?relative?affordability of this model.

The top-mounted mode dial offers up regular Auto, but more importantly offers instant access to manual controls through program, aperture, shutter priorities and full manual shooting.

Cleverly, you’re also offered a 99-point AF system, supporting the manual focusing option so you can wrestle control away from the automatic and get the shot you want.

There is a new function button on the front of the camera, which wasn’t present on the P300 forebear. This, says Nikon, can be programmed to act as a shortcut to your favourite shooting settings, so you don’t have to dig through the menus. There is also a new U (user) mode on the top dial, again, for instant access to your favourite settings.?

Other important controls include a top-mounted thumb dial in addition to a rear dial, giving you easy controls over shutter and aperture in manual shooting (for example).

On the back of the camera you also have a high resolution 3-inch 921k-dot LCD display, along with the video instant capture button, which will fire up the 1080p video, along with stereo audio, and fast and slow motion options are available too.

The left should sees a neat pop-up flash, which needs to be manually deployed, giving you a little more control over its use. An HDMI means you can simply and easily hook up to your TV to playback your video or share photos.

You also get a collection of clever features, including panoramic shooting, auto HDR and 3D stills. The Nikon Coolpix P310 will capture up to five shots at 6fps, or 30 shots at 1fps.

The rather utilitarian design has an elegant simplicity, but offers two body colours, black and white. It can be yours for ?299 and will be?available?from 22 March 2012 and at that price might be tempting for those who want a second camera for the pocket when the DSLR is just to big to lug around.

Sky is to give viewers the option to ditch the dish with a new Internet TV Service that it plans to launch later in the year.

There has been a tidal wave of announcements from Sky over the last day or so. On Monday it was revealed that Sky Anytime+ would soon to be open to customers on other ISPs and that the BBC iPlayer was inbound too.

This was followed by the news of Sky’s new 40Mb Unlimited Fibre broadband, free Wi-Fi from The Cloud and Sky Go tuning in to Android.

But it’s this last announcement that is the most intriguing – that Sky to is to launch a new Internet TV Service. We’re told by our pals at Sky that this isn’t just Sky Go in new clothing – but a new way of getting Sky without the need for a satellite dish to be plonked on the side of your house.

Sky’s official statement reads: “Taking advantage of the rapid growth in broadband-connected devices, and building on Sky’s experience in multi-platform TV, the new service will be an additional choice for people who don’t currently subscribe to a pay TV service.

“The new service will provide instant and simple access to a range of Sky content, including hundreds of films from Sky Movies. Giving consumers even more choice and flexibility, the service will be available to anyone in the UK with a broadband connection.”

Movies seem to feature heavily in the announcement and it even states that, rather than taking a subscription, people will be able to rent movies on a pay-as-you-go basis.

This hints at a pick and mix Sky IPTV platform and, with the F1 channel set to launch in March, makes perfect sense if Sky is to capitalise on all of the petrol heads who may not want the full Sky package.

It will be available on PCs, Macs, laptops, tablets, mobile phones, games consoles and connected TVs and will offer “immediate streaming through an intuitive interface”.

Jeremy Darroch, Sky’s chief executive, said: “Alongside the continued growth of our satellite platform, this will be a new way for us to reach out to consumers who love great content, but may not want the full Sky service. Bringing a distinctive, new choice to the marketplace will help us meet the needs and demands of an ever wider range of consumers.

“This new product launch will build on our early leadership in multi-platform distribution. It will allow us to make our expertise and investment in content and technology work even harder, extending our options for continued growth.”

It’s set to hit in the first half of 2012, we’ll update you as soon as we have more details.

Lego has revealed some more details on the Lord of the Rings Lego sets due in August at the London?Toy Fair, and Pocket-lint was on hand to get the inside track.

Shown behind closed doors with a strict no photography policy, we sadly can’t bring you any photos of the new sets, however we are able to bring you plenty of details describing them to the best of our ability on what you can expect.

There will be seven sets in total ranging from ?11.99 up to ?99 and, as with previous sets from Lego, certain sets will come with certain characters from the trilogy of books and movies, ensuring that true fans will have to buy them all.

The cheapest entry-level offering will be Gandalf and Frodo on the hay cart from the opening scene from Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

The set will include the cart filled with junk, a horse, now with moveable back legs so you can set them to be prancing, and Gandalf and Frodo. Gandalf comes with a big grey hat, grey beard, and grey cloth cloak. There is no white Gandalf at the moment sadly.?

But to get Gollum, you’ll have to get the Shelob Attacks set (?19.99) from The Two Towers. Gollum as you might expect is just as weedy in Lego as he is in the films, but he does come with a miniature Lego gold ring, while you’ll have to spend 20 minutes, probably, building the spider itself.

Then there is the Weathertop mountain set with Aragon, Frodo, Sam Gamgee, Pippin and Merry as well as a couple of the Wraths on horseback.

The set where you will get the most characters from the Fellowship is the Battle for Helm’s Deep.

The set will costs ?99 will give you Gimli, Eldarion, Kings Theoden?and Aragon as well as a clutch of Orcs to battle against.

There is also a Mines of Moria set (?69.99) including a sledgehammer wielding cave troll that is considerably larger than your average Minifig. Its footprint is a 12 Lego spaces rather than the Minifig’s standard two. The scene is set in the tomb room that has the well in it from the films.

The full line up of sets are: Gandalf Arrives (?11.99), Shelob Attacks (?19.99), Mines of Moria (?69.99), Attack on Weathertop (?49.99), Battle for Helm’s Deep (?99.99), Urukhai Army (?29.99), and Orc Forge (?39.99).?

Talking to a spokesman on the stand we’ve also been told that some of the sets will feature orcs carrying shields with the white hand of Saruman on them and that we can expect Hobbit sets to tie in with the movie when it hits cinemas at the end of this year.
